Knowledge of the environment is essential for informed decision-making. This knowledge is, however, not easily obtained and depends on huge amounts of data being gathered, organised and made available. Luckily there are many environmentally interested people in Namibia, and their contribution is a key element in the data-gathering process. Vital information has been gathered by dedicated individuals in their spare time and much less would have been known about the Namibian environment without their contribution.
