Abstract:

This data set contains information on the inventory of natural resources in the surrounding conservancies. Also available with this data set are the aerial photos for the following 8 conservancies: Seeis, Namatanya, Khomas Hockland, Richtbers, Black Nossob; Dorbabis; Okavi and Auas-Oanob.

The data was collected by field mapping methods and by revising digitized information/maps using the remotely sensed and most of the other materials.

The data is developed through mapping methods and aerial photo tracing.

The data is produced/collected together MSc, PhD and intern students form Berlin University (Germany), Newcastle University (England), Polytechnic of Namibia. As well as in conjunction with IUCN-RSA and Tanzania cheetah working group, Large carnivore Management association of Namibia LCMAN and the CBNRM  programme of the DEA.

Purpose:

The data is primarily used as a planning tool for management and monitoring of natural resources in the conservancies. The decisions aided by this data promotes sustainable utilization of natural resources in the conservancies.

Supplemental_Information:

The data can be obtain at no cost. The shape files are compressed with zip algorithm when the data is send via emails. Otherwise, files are submitted on CD. The CD with the data can be mailed or be picked up personally from the office.

Technical prerequisites for using the data: GIS and Normal office programs

Language used in the data set: German (esp. on reports, academic thesis), and English
