Abstract:

Water Quality Information System contains records on water quality assessment and pollution control in the country. The suitability of water for human consumption and domestic use is recorded. The monitoring of water availability and its quality for use is monitored in boreholes, dams and other water bodies all over Namibia. Compliance monitoring is carried out in 2 to 3 times regionally per year. Ad hoc monitoring and assessment is carried out as per request from regions. 

The threshold levels for the measured variables are defined according to the South African standard for drinking water and sewage. The variables sampled and analyzed based on the South African standard for drinking water and sewage.

Purpose:

To ensure quality of drinking water is up to standard. The data is also used to monitor the functionality of waste water treatment systems are functioning properly
