Abstract:

Issued permits of exporting/importing wild fauna/flora in Namibia. All imports and exports are subject to veterinary regulations. For live animals, the permits or certificates are made valid only if the transport condition conform to the guidelines for transport of Live Animals, or in case of air transport, to the IATA Live Animals Regulations.

For export permits and re-export certificate, the date of expiry of the document may not be more than six months after the date of issuance (one year for import permits). Special conditions may refer to national legislation or special conditions placed on the shipment by the issuing Management Authority. 

The following codes are used for in issuing the permits:
T for commercial
Z for zoos
Q for circuses and traveling exhibition
G for botanical gardens
S for scientific purposes
H for hunting trophies
P for personal
M for bio-medical research
E for education
N for reintroduction or introduction into the wild
B for breeding in captivity or artificial propagation

Purpose:

To keep records and monitor the import/export of wild fauna/flora carried out in Namibia at all levels.
