A community conservation and tourism website was officially launched by Minister of Environment and Tourism Pohamba Shifeta.
The Website was developed as a means of encouraging visitors and travellers to explore communal conservancies and take the road less travelled to find hidden gems in conservancies by Ministry of Environment and Tourism in Partnership with NACSO.
The website was launched at part of the joint exhibition by MET with NACSO and all its partners at the 2019 Namibia Tourism Expo currently underway in Windhoek.
The www.conservationtourism.com.na is to strengthening the Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) programme to enhance the business aspects of conservancies for them to generate funds.
The Minister commendated the Namibian Association of CBNRM Support for the initiative, saying it will increase accessibility and enable the country to reach important markets not only for community tourism but for Namibia Tourism as whole.
The Minister encouraged conservancies to use the platform to promote tourism in their respective areas in order to generate more funds for the benefit of their communities.
