POLICIES & LEGISLATION

The Directorate of Environmental Affairs has over the last few years run an extensive Environmental Legislation Programme, which has resulted in a series of law-proposals. These are not yet implemented, but information on these proposals can be obtained from Michaela Figueira. Napcod undertook a detailed review of legislation and policies pertinent to combating desertification in 1996.  The report "Policy and Proposals" prepared by Richard Dewdney is available at our library. Namibia's drought policy and strategy resulted from this.
