The Minister of Environment and Tourism, Hon Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah officially launched the Mangetti National Park which is situated about 100 kilometers south west of Rundu in the Kavango Region on Wednesday, 3 December 2008.

At the launch, the memorandum of Agreement aimed at creating opportunities for generating tangible socio-economic benefits to local communities through careful tourism development was signed between the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Kavango Regional Council and the Ukwangali Traditional Authority.

Other speakers at the launch included the Governor of Kavango Region, the European Union Ambassador, and the Hompa (Chief) of the Ukwangali Traditional Authority, and all Hompas and Fumu from the Kavango Region have attended the event.
