Acknowledgement

Contribute to conservation in Namibia by uploading your images of sightings of rare and endangered species, swarms of jellyfish or other interesting natural events in Namibia.

Please indicate the date of your sighting and the location where you picture was taken. 

Your images of black rhinos, wild dogs and other rare and endangered species will help our conservationists expand their databases and ultimately help with the protection of Namibia’s stunning biodiversity.

Game Capture

The translocation of the Black Rhino from the Kunene region to communal conservancies.

The black rhino is a specially protected species in Namibia. Because rhinos are such large and strong animals, they needed to be treated with great care and utmost respect – no chances were taken during the capture operations, which were carefully planned and professionally executed. This project was funded by the Millennium Challenge Account-Namibia (MCA-Namibia) and the World Wildlife Fund.

The Ministry of Environment and Tourism has a Training subdivision which falls under the Directorate of Administration and Support Services. The training division assists individual staff members and groups to attend various training workshops relevant to their scope of job description in order to acquire the necessary competencies needed to achieve the mission of the Ministry through training.

 

Rock-Lodge Team-building

Various MET staff from different directorates attended this exciting workshop at the Rock Lodge in Okahandja, under the theme “LEAD WITHOUT A TITLE”. The workshop’s focus was on the importance of team-building, time management strategies, decision making, and purposes of creating High Performance Teams. Various activities based on team-work took place at the event too.

 

Annual Field Staff Awards

Annual Field Staff Awards ceremony held at Roof of Africa, Windhoek

The Ministry of Environment and Tourism held its annual award ceremony which took place at Roof of Africa in Windhoek on the 16 September 2010. MET, Hon. Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah presented awards to field staff in the following categories, Incident Book, Springbok, Welwitschia Awards and the Lifetime Achievement Award respectively.
