Providing a good education, with access to information and the chance to develop skills for the future, is a national priority in Namibia.  The Ministry of Environment and Tourism supports this wholeheartedly.

One of the units within our Directorate of Environmental Affairs is Environmental Education and Information Services Unit, which envisions an environmentally aware and literate Namibian nation where environmental education forms an integral part of our every day lives.

This Unit is also responsible for the running of two Environmental Education Centres in Namibia – the NAMUTONI ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTRE iin the Etosha National Park and the OKATJIKONA ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTRE at the Waterberg Plateau Park.

The Centre’s programmes are designed to involve learners in “hands on” experiences in the environment and can be adapted for the specific needs of a group. The programme has been developed around the syllabi of grade 7 -12 but can be adapted to accommodate other grades. Target groups are invited to visit the Centre for 1-3 days.
