WINDHOEK- Minister of Environment and Tourism, Honourable Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah officially handed over to the Environmental Investment Fund’s first grants worth N$3.1 million dollars, on Wednesday, 25th April 2012. EIF awarded its grants to 11 local projects, which are meant to address issues of food security, climate change, adaptation, mining rehabilitation, conservation of endangered species, livelihood improvement, water management and environmental education.

African Negotiators on climate change held a meeting in Windhoek, on 16th April 2012, to assess the outcome and the recommendations of the 17th conference of parties on climate change, COP17. The aim of the African Group Negotiators’ consultative meeting was to prepare the continent’s position on the outcome and the way forward for negotiations in Bonn, Germany, in June and COP18, which expected to take place in Doha, Qatar, in November.
