Presentation of MET / GTZ Project Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Management

Introduction
Natural Resources Management is one Priority Area for GTZ in Namibia.

The overall goal of the Priority Area is:
Fair access to and sustainable management of natural resources leading to an improved environmental situation and to a stabilisation and improvement of the production base and rural incomes.

Strategic approach of the German DC:
1. Improvement of the framework conditions and strengthening the administrative and management structures for a sustainable resource management on national, regional and local levels.
2. Development and piloting of methods, instruments and innovations (technical and organisational) for the  rehabilitation and sustainable utilisation of resources.
3. Improvement of the production base and income of disadvantaged rural households and communities by scaling-up tested measures.

GTZ support to natural resources management includes the following three components:

      ·       Land Management and Land Reform

      ·       Namibian Water Resources Management Review

      ·       Biodiversity and sustainable land management

 

Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Management Project overview

Overall Goal:
The support framework put in place by MET is improved to enable the sustainable management of natural resources by both public and private users

Timeframe:           
Duration Phase I:  08/2004 – 06/2008
Duration Phase II: 07/2008 – 06/2011
Duration Phase III: 07/2011 – 12/2012

Contribution:
Phase I: € 1.5 Mio
Phase II: € 1,87 Mio
Phase II: € 1,5 Mio
